DO YOU FANCY YOURSELF AS A STAND-UP COMEDIAN? OR A SPOKEN-WORD ARTIST?

On September 25, the Warwick Wingding – Peckham’s Music and Arts Festival – will be expanding into comedy, with talent corner for local comedians to take to the microphone.

We are looking for local talent to take part in the Wingding, a small local festival which runs annually in Warwick Gardens on Lyndhurst Way from noon to 8pm.

This year, on the main stage, we will have bands, choirs, soloists, rap artists – and in the Ivy House Beer and Talent Tent, a line-up of spoken artists. (To get some idea of last year’s event, log on to [www.youtube.com].)

Is one of those spoken artists or comedians you? If you are keen to show Peckham your talent, email Pull The Other One at comedyarts@googlemail.com.
A reminder that Nunhead Community Choir term starts next Thursday, 16th September, 8pm at Ivydale School.

Nunhead Community Choir is a fun, friendly group that just loves to sing. We meet and practice from 8 - 9.30 every Thursday evening during term times at Ivydale School and perform at all sorts of local events.

Our songs include pop classics, show tunes and folk songs from all around the world. We’re a very mixed group with people from all walks of life and every level of ability. We’re not a classical choir; we’re not a church choir – we’re a community choir.

You don’t need any training, experience or the ability to read music. The only rule is that you have to want to sing!

GUEST DIRECTOR – Lloyd Wade
This autumn, the choir is thrilled to be working with Lloyd Wade of Take That, Eliza Doolittle and X-Factor fame. He is joining us for 10 weeks from 16th September 2010 thanks to a grant from the Peckham Rye and Nunhead Community Council.

There's the toddler group at Ivydale Sure Start centre on Monday mornings from 9am with a singing/music session at 9.15 and 10.15 I think it is. Not sure if it starts back Monday coming or the week after. It's a lovely group and the free singing and music session is brilliant but it does get VERY busy which spoils it a bit.

If you can get up to Telegraph Hill, the one o'clock club there opens from 9.30 and I think Diddi Dance runs sessions in the nearby Church / community centre on a Monday - details on their website and I think the EDF had a recent thread with prices.

Other than Telegraph Hill, I find Tuesdays a bit of a quiet day. But maybe others know of other things - particularly if you venture into the ED side of things.

I moved to Nunhead recently and I'm hoping someone can suggest things I can do with my 13 month old daughter? There really are only so many times I can push the buggy round the duck pond and it'd be nice to meet some other local Mums, as well as giving her some new things to do. She's not walking yet so would need to be ok for a crawler and as I'm now bck at work I'm limited to Mondays and Tuesday or the weekend.

Hi all,

Hope the summer was a relaxing and fun one for all. B) School started again this morning for my 7 year old so now have the time to update you all on the car boot sale. On confirmation from the school (which should hopefully be tomorrow) , we hope to start the autumn term with a car boot sale on Saturday 25th September. We are going to try a sat this time , and after speaking to people found that they are more likely to come out if it was a saturday than a sunday. I have had a lot of response for ads i have placed in various websites this summer so all being well we should have quite a few pitches this time round. Anyway, as stated once i have confirmation for the date, I will log back in with final details and hopefully we can raise some funds for our children!(:D

I woke to the sound of a police helicopter at about 6.30 and on my way to work was refused entry to Kirkwood road by the police. I asked what had happened but they refused to tell me.
